FIRST-AID CERTIFICATION

First Aid Training

York University offers a full range of First Aid training programs to meet the needs of the broader community, including students, staff, faculty, and community partners. Our courses follow nationally recognized standards and emphasize hands-on learning to build confidence and practical, life-saving skills in a supportive environment.

Certification & Credentials

Courses follow Lifesaving Society standards, which are recognized by the Ontario Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) and many employers across Ontario.
Standard First Aid with CPR-C and AED certification is valid for three years from the date of issue.
Emergency First Aid and CPR courses are typically shorter and have their own validity periods based on level.
Recertification rules for Standard First Aid: Holders may recertify only once before a full course must be repeated; if a certification has expired (beyond three years), the full course is required.
